¨    The following AP exams will take place on Tues., 5/5:  AP Spanish Language students must be seated by 7:45 am & will take their AP exam @ 8am.  Students will return to SBHS by 1pm for afternoon classes.  AP Computer Science students must be seated by 7:45 am & will take their AP exam @ 8am.  Students will return to SBHS by 1pm for afternoon classes.

¨    Attn. all Graduating Seniors:  Please check your SBHS email for a message from Mr. Burke containing information about scholarships.  You must take the survey in the email to be considered for one of the many community & memorial scholarships awarded @ Graduation.  All types of students receive scholarships, so if you are planning to further your education, take 10 minutes to answer the survey questions by Fri., 5/8 @ 11pm.  The link to the survey can also be found on the SBHS website home page.

¨    Students please check the lists located in the lobby and see your guidance counselor during a free period ASAP if your name appears on the list.  If your name is on the list, you have a schedule conflict for next year that needs to be resolved.

¨    All first semester art / pottery students should see Ms. Kimball, Ms. Price or Ms. Naz ASAP about picking up their art work.

¨    Attn. students who will graduate in 2011 or later: The Office of the Governor is looking to appoint a student to the State Board of Education for a 2 year term, beginning 7/1/09.  Please see Peg in Guidance for an application & an info sheet about the Board.  Deadline for applications to be returned is 5/22.

¨    Attn. juniors:  5/5 is the deadline to register for the 6/6 SATs.  Registration materials can be found in Guidance & @ www.collegeboard.com

¨    Attn. juniors:  5/8 is the deadline to register for the 6/13 ACTs.  Registration materials can be found in Guidance & @ www.act.org

¨    Attn. juniors & seniors between the ages of 16 & 19 (as of 7/31/09): An International Youth Leadership Retreat (www.miraclecorners.org) will be held here in VT & in NYC 7/31-8/5.  This retreat is for young people who are interested in developing leadership skills, global friendships & creating plans to foster local change.  Scholarships are available.  For more info please contact Dr. Catherine DeLeo @ 802-626-6475 or catherine.deleo@lyndonstate.edu   Deadline to apply is 5/15.

¨    The American Legion is sponsoring a Cadet Training Program to be held 6/21-6/26 @ the Police Academy, Pittsford, VT.  Applicants must be at least 16 years of age & currently a junior or senior in HS.  For more info, call 802-223-7131 or email alvthq@verizon.net.  Deadline to apply is 5/15.

 

2. Scholarship Info:

¨    The Pizzagalli “Can Do” Scholarship ($1000) for a graduating senior who demonstrates financial need, can show evidence of earnings through his/her own efforts, is enrolled in a certified VT college or post secondary program (or out of state program if no comparable program exists in VT), 5/8 deadline. 

¨    The Bill Stone SB Rotary Club Scholarship ($1000) for senior who intends to continue his/her education in a vocational/technical field & is enrolled in a not more than two-year program, requires financial assistance & is active in community service, 5/15 deadline.

¨    The Nancy Jenkins Real Estate Scholarship (two $1000 scholarships)  for students who have financial needs, may not receive scholarships based on skills or academics, & show a strong desire to succeed in college are highly encouraged to apply, 5/15 deadline.
